I'm.... not completely happy.
My new cardiologist was frank, straight forward, and severe. He hit me hard and fast and left me bummed. I hate going to the doctor to receive the long stream of reminders of how old I am, how fat I am, and how short my life is. As this dealt primarily with my heart, it hit harder than normal.
I really need some cheering-up time.
So, I still have not been given anything to address my arrhythmia directly. Instead, I got yet another blood pressure pill. Pills don't bother me. It's what they treat that does. In this case, my BP, which remains high even with 3 pills working together (now a fourth), remains sky high.
According to the doctor, he doesn't want to treat the arrhythmia directly with my BP so high, especially since my heart rate is always normal (an anti-arrhythmic will tend to lower my heart rate -- like I'm not sleepy enough during the day).
The DRASTIC assault at the arrhythmia would be something called Ablation (Google it). Essentially, they'd laser tracks in my heart to 'steer' the electrical pulses that make it pump. This is definitely a last-resort and something I wouldn't consider unless my A-Fib became a regular, uncomfortable, daily occurrence.
For now, I'm going to work on keeping myself calm, exercising, eating right, and saying good-bye forever to old vices. No more alcohol, caffeine, smoke, or sex with random Vietnamese prostitutes.
I'm kidding. I don't smoke.
